growth: a look into sustainable agriculture in new jersey
the video i am submitting was created during my time as an intern at the youth-led environmental non-profit mevo based in new jersey. through my time working as a part of their farm crew, i built trusting relationships with the staff. i was eventually granted access to film and interview them with the purpose of creating a documentary demonstrating the work being done and the environmental and personal motivations behind it.
three farm workers are introduced – jacob, sam, and dan, each motivated and passionate about the work they do in different ways. they describe how they got involved in sustainable agriculture, the land they farm on, and the kinds of work required to grow large amounts of food for the local community.
as the documentary continues, each individual’s own perspective and beliefs begin to show as they discuss the relationship between food and people, the value of hard work, and how farming can be an antidote to many societal ills. in the end, this story aims to paint a portrait of the young environmentalists working hard to make the world a better place.
