maggie kierstead

maggie is a senior at the george washington university majoring in journalism in the school of media and public affairs and minoring in sustainability. most recently, though, she spent a semester in thailand studying development, globalization, and human rights. while there, maggie made a short documentary film about land rights violations in a small community in the northeast region of thailand that was published in two thai news media organizations. before that, she interned as the videography production intern at planet forward, a sustainability innovation multimedia firm that seeks ideas and innovations that solve global environmental challenges. on campus maggie has served on the executive board of chi omega fraternity and is involved in campus outreach, a christian ministry on campus. she grew up in seattle, washington and from an early age cultivated an interest in the environment, food justice, and social issues particularly relating to poverty and international development. she is happiest when adventuring outdoors with friends.
