james ian duffy

rutgers university, new brunswick

contributor

james duffy is a senior at rutgers university, where he majors in ecology, evolution, and natural resources with minors in geomatics and human ecology. as a student of ecology, human-environment interactions, and geospatial information, james is especially interested in how humans might apply ecological concepts to make suburban and urban development more efficient, environmentally serviceable, and beneficial for our communities. given the rancorous nature of current politics, james is also increasingly interested in how people working at the forefront of human-environment sustainability can tailor the wording of their goals to speak to broader swathes of the population. his experiences include researching mussel aquaculture in a marine science lab, surveying the breeding birds of the new jersey highlands, assisting studies of stormwater runoff in an agricultural watershed, editing an on-campus environmental newsletter, and more. when he's not busy at school, james enjoys birdwatching, staying active, and connecting with friends and family.
