zoey england is a senior at the university of connecticut where she is earning an individualized bachelor\u2019s degree entitled population health, disease, & policy as well as a fasttrack master\u2019s in public health. an outspoken advocate on the importance of prioritizing mental health and taking time for self-care, she spoke at the 2020 tedxuconn conference on the importance of safeguarding mental health through the covid-19 pandemic and beyond. most recently, zoey has been interested in the intersection of climate change and the emergence of zoonotic infectious diseases as well as related policy development.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
zoey spends a great deal of time volunteering with the u.s. medical reserve corps in various capacities as well as the uconn american english language institute. in her free time, zoey likes to relax with her dog, whom she is training to become therapy certified. she is an award-winning cellist and nature photographer, with her favorite subjects being honeybees and migratory butterflies. when not in researching in a lab, you can find zoey reading, practicing her spanish, listening to a podcast, or attempting to craft the perfect macaron.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
